Mona Monash
Mona Monash is a Ukrainian children's book author-illustrator and illustrator based in Prague. With over 14 years of experience in visual storytelling and design, she creates warm, character-driven illustrations for fiction, non-fiction and educational children's books.
Mona graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts with a Specialist Degree in Graphic Design. Her career began in graphic design and later took her into character animation and illustration, giving her a broad visual background that continues to influence her approach to children's books.
Her published books include Big Book of Colorful Foods and Amazing Animals — both written and illustrated by Mona and published with Clever — as well as My First Book of Mammals with Hungry Tomato. She has also illustrated two titles in the Reading Champion series for Hachette UK — The Wrong Bag and Bill's New Glasses. She continues to collaborate with clients across publishing and commercial illustration, and is currently working on a new picture book as an author-illustrator.
Mona works primarily digitally, drawing on her background in traditional media to bring texture, warmth and expressiveness to her illustrations. She particularly enjoys creating characters with distinct personalities and using visual storytelling to convey humour, emotion and a sense of wonder.
Her inspiration comes from nature, cooking, folklore and the everyday magic of childhood. When she is not drawing, she enjoys travelling with her family, exploring new places, and slowly turning her home into a jungle — she currently tends to over 50 plants and counting.
